Griffin Associates was founded in 2022 by Marc Griffin and is a leading healthcare innovation consulting firm dedicated to helping health systems improve, expand, and optimize their innovation centers. With a focus on internal innovation, external commercialization, venture investments, and tech incubation & acceleration, we provide the expertise needed to drive healthcare innovation forward.

About Marc

Tired of being assigned to "advise" health systems on innovation and digital strategy (at an outrageous rate) without seeing any of the playbooks implemented that tangibly showed the client "winning", Marc started Griffin Associates with the goal of driving change that is realized and measurable. 

Throughout this journey Marc also owned digital portfolio and partnership sets with local and international firms.  The goal was to help these organizations grow, but it stopped at commercialization and referrals. Recognizing there was a huge gap in simply getting in front of a client and truly understanding what the value chain for the product is and what stakeholders care about, Marc began advising dozens of companies on go to market and product strategy so their "baby" can get out into the wild and be successful.

Governance

  • Developed full governance structure inclusive of vetting ideas, deploying resources, and decision points around internal socialization and possible external commercialization.

Ideation & Process

  • Worked closely with the Innovation team to develop protocols for identifying ideas for innovation, determining which solution companies (or internal resources) would be best to implement, and how to measure KPI's and reporting on individual projects.​

Identifying New Market Opportunities

  • Worked closely with the Venture Team on identifying new and exciting solution companies that align with the health system strategies - and where to make potential investments that would correlate with both health system needs and their VC ROI objectives.

Execution & Operationalization

  • Operationalized innovation to provide a pathway to IT into the health system and to actualize end user adoption

  • Built out measurable milestones and metrics to track success / failure and the tipping point to move from pilot to scale

Project Examples: Solution Companies

  • Served as interim c-suite executive for an AI / ML built digital health behavioral health company. Led the shift from a FFS model treated by virtual reality to a broader at-risk care management offering supported by ancillary clinical staff (tech enabled services) for VBC to expand reach and enter the Payor market

  • Demonstrated to investors (current & future) that the organization builds products that work; has services to provide additional value; customers will buy them; the org can deploy successfully; and the org can drive engagement

  • Partnered with senior executives on long term product investment horizons to develop FDA cleared digital therapeutics to complement drug development and efficacy

  • Conducted a market analysis of different therapeutic strategies to help guide investment decisions and the priority of future development resources along with timelines and milestones / associated resources and go/no-go decision dates

  • Built out a new vertical for Innovation Center consulting which included go to market strategy, an overview of innovation centers and education for the internal executive team, sample projects and draft SOW’s, collateral for kick-offs with clients, pricing, etc. 

  • Developed greenfield / net new logo business development strategies and target client lists to expand the reach to be more nationally focused (as the consulting firm was reliant on existing business with no line of sight into new clients)

  • Crafted new collateral to replace 10 year old presentations and marketing artifacts that no longer represented the firm correctly to the market

  • Redesigned the value chain economics for a post acute care management company to move the focus away from product / feature to incentives for each stakeholder in the value chain.  Notably, starting with who is buying the solution, who is sponsoring the solution, who is implementing the solution, who is the end user(s) of the solution, and who is measuring the success of the solution.

  • Setup qualitative and quantitative metrics to track success of the solution to determine moving from pilot to scale.

  • Reworked the associated SOW's and contracts to create joint incentive for the project's success.
